Driving Tips - New Zealand Road Guide

Hiring a rental car is a great way to see our beautiful country. However, there are a few things that you may not be used to when driving your rental car in New Zealand. For example:

  • We drive on the left side of the road
  • We have a unique give way rule at intersections
  • Many roads are hilly or narrow and winding so your journey may take longer than expected

Fuel

Most Nationwide rental cars use 91-octane unleaded fuel. This is the cheapest and most common grade of fuel in New Zealand. Our Group P, Hyundai i-Max 8 Seater luxury mini coach runs on diesel.
