Driving Tips - New Zealand Road Guide

Hiring a rental car is a great way to see our beautiful country. However, there are a few things that you may not be used to when driving your rental car in New Zealand. For example:

• We drive on the left side of the road
• We have a unique give way rule at intersections
• Many roads are hilly or narrow and winding so your journey may take longer than expected

Fuel

All Nationwide rental cars use 91-octane unleaded fuel. This is the cheapest and most common grade of fuel in New Zealand. To avoid passing on expensive tax costs to customers, we do not hire diesel rental cars or vans.
